Music, Chanting, Rhythms For Self Discovery

BASICINDIA INVITES YOU TO “MUSIC CIRCLE”

A special kind of workshop, which uses music, chanting and rhythms for self-discovery
Mumbai
Sat 15th and Sunday 16th February 2014
 at Saswad (near Pune)

Conducted by German singer Sabine Bundschu

Music, rhythm and chanting – could there be a more joyous way to self-discovery? Sabine Bundschu brings together these three elements in her workshop “Music Circle” specially designed for music lovers, group leaders in all fields, educators, music teachers and therapists.

Music and rhythm have a way of grounding us, says Sabine, of expanding our perception and bringing us into deep contact with ourselves and with the others in the group. In addition, chanting gives us a special understanding of our own voice, even while connecting us with “the whole”. To sing whole-heartedly is to experience the healing power of music. You don’t have to be an “expert” to enjoy this work, adds Sabine. All it requires is curiosity and interest in learning new ways, and a love of music and rhythm.

Among the things we will learn and experience is “Taketina”– a meditative group process developed by Austrian born Reinhard Flatischler, based on the use of multi-leveled rhythms. Taketina has also been described as “rhythm for evolution, and uses the body as instrument to guide one into inner silence.” This unique work helps us to explore the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious mind in a way we are not able to do in our daily life. The three rhythmic layers are represented by vocalization, claps and steps, backed by a drum. Taketina allows participants to move at their own pace while exploring different levels of awareness, and to find their own way through to their centre. It helps individuals to see where they are in relation to the rhythm, both within and outside themselves. In turn this helps them to discover areas where they might be out of tune in their own lives.

About Sabine Bundschu:
Sabine, primarily an actress and a singer, has performed alongside a number of well-known singers ranging from the German icon, Nina Hagen, to Kenny Rodgers, Peggy March and Ron Williams. She has been a founding member of the group “Electric Ladyland”. She has studied Taketina under Reinhard Flatischler and the art of drumming with Glen Velez. Today she conducts workshops based on music and rhythm in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.
